Better late than not at all
THURSDAY, May 13, 2004 (Source: Daily Express)

I WAS one of thoes responsible for the formation of both Parti bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Upko.

The ideal at that time was to set up a party to represent the Kadazandusun and Murut communities. The name Upko, itself, was right in the sense that it carriers the message of the KDM in Sabah.

But the state of the current KDM communities since gaining independence from the British is not any better than before.

We are simply not ready to face the millinium and globalisation era but whatever it is, the call for unity among the KDM leaders by Datuk Pairin is good.

It's better late than never. I fully support the idea that Pairin fulfils the noble objective of unity due to his sucess in leading PBS.

The trademark is there for all to see and, thus, Iagree that the leaders should forget about their personal interests, differences and patty quarrels.

What is imortant is that the KDM communities and leaders must be united to enable us face the future.

We are now so fragmented that other people are making a joke of the whole thing

Datuk Wilfred Lingham

KK.
